Part of The Shout! Factory are refugees from the Rhino Records label, where they managed to unleash an ungodly number of music compilations, retro-TV re-issues and a few movies of dubious distinction on an unsuspecting public. They credit Harold Bronson, Gary Stewart, Bob Emmer and several others with the bulk of the credit. Bob was Rhino’s head of Business Affairs and the man responsible for putting Rhino together with Atlantic in 1992.

The founders maintained relationships with with PBS and star producer TJ Lubinsky, and have released numerous DVDs and audio box sets from multi-artist music specials including Superstars Of ’70s Soul, Magic Moments and Disco Explosion, to name a few.

In 2004 they released the amazing TV show Freaks And Geeks, packed with an absurd amount of bonus content and commentaries, and did the same with the infamous Canadian sketch comedy show, SCTV. Both of these legendary shows had not made it to video or DVD because of complex music rights issues that The Shout Factory was able to navigate through.

On the music side, they nabbed rights to the Marshall Tucker Band catalog and began an extensive and very successful reissue program. The Shout Factory also released a Grammy-nominated Lenny Bruce box set, as well as a New Orleans box. They also worked with William Shatner and Ben Folds on their collaboration album.

In 2005, they began a relationship with Dick Cavett, beginning with a three DVD set called Rock Icons, and also released films with groundbreaking rock bands, including The Sex Pistols’ Great Rock’n'Roll Swindle and a documentary on the amazing Flaming Lips – Fearless Freaks.

On the music side, they worked with Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss to reissue the Tijuana Brass catalog, starting with Lost Treasures and then deluxe versions of each of the classic albums. The Shout Factory then produced a new album with the legendary Solomon Burke, which was produced by Don Was, which was nominated for a Grammy. We also put out a boxed set of baseball moments, music and related audio recordings, The Baseball Box, packaged to look like a base.

The Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution and world’s largest library. It houses nearly 128 million items on approximately 530 miles of bookshelves. The collections include more than 29 million books and other print materials, 2.7 million recordings, 12 million photographs, and 57 million manuscripts. The American Civil War lasted from 1861–1865, and was also known as the War Between the States. Eleven Southern slave states declared secession from the United States and formed the Confederate States of America, also known as the Confederacy. Led by Jefferson Davis, they fought against the United States, which was known as the Union. The Union was supported by the free states and five border slave states. Union states were also called the North.

This is an extensive collection of historic Civil War photographs and lithographs.

The Hoover Institution was founded in 1919 to document the major political trends of the modern era. The focus has always been to preserve primary sources such as diaries, correspondence, unpublished memoirs and political ephemera. From the very early years, the curators collected political posters that were meant to sway public opinion in turbulent times. The result is one of the preeminent poster collections in the world.

Approximately 30,000 of the collection’s estimated 60,000 posters have been photographed and cataloged. The collection includes posters from all over the globe. The American government commissioned art from distinguished graphic designers to rally patriotism during war, to recruit enlistment in the military, and to foster conservation of resources in hard times. The resulting images possess an artistic value that outlives the poster’s original purpose. For this reason, the Hoover Institution Library and Archives is delighted to share these unique visual resources with a wider public.

In 1963, Ansel Adams and Nancy Newhall were commissioned to produce a book to commemorate the centennial celebration of the University of California campuses and its many research field stations, which was published by McGraw Hill Book Company in 1967. Our store currently offers 69 images from this collection from which high-end reproductions can be purchased. Proceeds help support the museum programs and collections. Ansel Adams, who lived from 1902 until 1984, was an American photographer and environmentalist, best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West and primarily Yosemite National Park.
